Hi! I have installed rom P8H67-M PRO on my P8H67-M PRO B3 (3.0). Is this no problem? Speedstep seems to work. No kp after removing nullcpumanagement kext.
Hi Sammi - I have an Asus Barebones V9-P8H67E (http://www.asus.com/Barebone_PC/V_Series_2530L/V9P8H67E/). Is there any chance you could knock up a modified bios for this board. It would be a massive help and is clearly beyond my capability to handle.
Is it possible to have a Bios for some Asus Laptops. The Asus G74SX is a common one for example and one which I have. Its is the closest thing to a portable desktop. GTX560M Graphics card 16GB Ram 2630QM processor etc etc!! This is a high end gamers laptop.
Is it possible to apply these same edits to a socket 2011 ROM, like the ASUS P9X79 Pro? I have that board and an i7-3930K mostly working, but am stuck using NullCPUPowerManagement still. =/

hello thank you very much for your work turned out quite useful to me when some installations ... I followed the steps for the "P8P67 REV 3.1" rom, and got all the way to the "ASUS EZ Flash 2 Utility" screen. But when I try to flash the bios, it tells me the rom file is "Image integrity check failed." Is there a human error on my part, or is there some error with the rom file?
Hi, that usually means that the version you have currently installed is higher than the version you are trying to flash. which version is currently installed on your board? 2302?
After update my P8P67 Evo latest bios I cant open my hackintosh? Boot great but stuck on apple logo no spinning cursor stuck on there? I deleted NullCPUPowerManagement nothing changes? What do you suggest?
Thank you so much this combination open machine. But should I use every opening this combination? What is that mean my Dsdt is broken or I must to make own DSDT?
looks like that is one of the problems updating to the 3k roms on some of the older boards. use hdanenabler until a dsdt fix is found. or you could downgrade back to the older version. up to you
Hi semisnake! thanks for the reply! look I managed to tweak the rom but crashed to this wall: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?s=a89293660404ead9676b65961eabd61d&showtopic=278208&st=20&p=1823000&#entry1823000 However I managed to get over that fence by doing this: Method: dynamic Manufacturer: asus In advanced I checked: "dont alter any acpi tables" unchecked: "replace all OEM/Table id occurences" Then, of course, checked the "No Slic" and "Allow user to modify other modules". never had that problem with an asus one before. that part isnt the problem anyway. doing the modification to the rom goes fine, but when flashing it it comes up with 'security verification failed' or similar.
many p67 and h67 boards on 3xxx roms have issues with osx, eg. audio not working at all/sleep not working. i can give you a link to the rom if you really want it, but if there is nothing wrong with the rom you are using, or you want to update for the sake of it, dont.
Nevermind, I successfully managed to do so myself! Here's my modified version of the 3602 BIOS for the Asus P8P67-M (not the pro model): http://www.datafilehost.com/download-c13c9cb0.html
I am also interested in newest P8P67 bios 3301. I am aware of all possible problems, I am using previous 3k bios now. Could you upload newest patched bios? I would be very grateful!
Sorry I did not see the new post about the "Do not upgrade or die" rule, my bad :) My system works fine in 10.7.3 anyway and Im waiting for ML so dont bother to make this rom for me
i dont know about die, but if your system works fine, best to leave it tbh. the rom wont fails the repack check anyway. seems quite a few of the 4xxx do that.
Hi Samisnake, Great job you're doing. I've this troublesome P8H67-I board that I've downgraded to 0803 ROM here and still get KP with either the vanilla 10.7.4 AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext or the Multibeast 4.5.1 modified version. DSDT is in place, removing the above kext boots fine but of course no Sleep till Brooklin... Any idea what else to try?
This is so awesome! I have been waiting for native power management on my hackintosh for ever, and you have made it available for me. Thank you! The only problem is that I saw you took down the rom for my board (P8Z77-V LX). Was there a problem with this rom? I saw you had it before, and I downloaded, but I am unsure to try and flash my bios with it now that I see you have pulled it down.
It would be great if you could let me know about what happened to it. Thank you very much.
hi, yes the roms for both the -V LX and -V LK were removed. to use the roms for the z77 boards, you need to use the usb flashback feature. the LX and LK do not come with that feature. ezflash (in the advanced section of the bios) will not flash it, nor will bupdater dos utility.
there are a couple possible (but not tested) ways you could go from here. one is to try flashrom in linux to flash the modified rom. the other way is to buy a bios chip (easily replaceable) from this seller on ebay http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/zeanon/?_trksid=p4340.l2559 if you message him with a link to the modified bios, he will program it onto the chip for you. as no security checks will take place (the reason why the bios fails to flash when using anything other than flashback) its likely that the modded bios will work. there are issues with this way, such as cost and inability to upgrade the bios, but it is most likely to work for you.
Thank you. I will look into those methods. I know my way around in linux, so I'll probably try the flashrom method. And again, this is great work! Much appreciated.
no problem. whichever method you go, could you give an update when you are done? if it works, it could help other LX/LK users. flashrom method can be risky, but i suppose if your bios dies, you have to try the chip method ;-) good luck!
I just looked on flashrom's website to see that it doesn't yet support any ASUS 7 series MoBos. Oh well. Not sure if I will live with patched PowerManagement, go for the bios chip thing, or just get another MoBo. After all, I have been lusting after a thunderbolt board ... :) However, I will be sure to give you an update if I do manage to get the flashed bios on the LX.
Both have: -Intel RAID ROM Updated 11.2.0.1527 (Use the 11.2.0.1006 RST Driver< -Micron eSATA ROM Updated 1.07.28 -ASUS SLIC 2.1 -Flashed and tested and work flawlessly!
Turns out that Intel's 11.5 ROM/Driver Combo performs worse than the 11.2 ROM/Driver combo in many cases. There are also other reports stating the opposite, ran my own tests. They seem conclusive.
11.5 also has been pulled from Intel's website due to a nasty memory link in the iastor service that can case eventual data corruption. They recommend going down to 11.2.0.1006.
There are also reports that properly working and verifiable TRIM for RAID arrays doesn't yet exist in 11.5 using a Z68 chipset yet (Z77 do work, though). Google it and look for a guy posting; alias "Fernando". He's run lots of tests and posted the results.
Here are my results with an idle at the BIOS screen for at least 6 hours right before testing. (Both PCs have 2 x 128 GB Crucial M4 in RAID 0) Exhibit A: P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 with 11.5 Exhibit B:P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 with 11.2
Didn't take screenshot with 11.5 for the next board, but I remember sequential read being ~820 MBps P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 with 11.2
Had to stop being lazy and learn how to do this... it wasn't so bad. Figured I should give back a little, for the much I have taken.
Enjoy :)
Samisnake,
is there a thread that may help me out or do you mind explaining how I might begin to perform the DSDT patch on that Chronos 7 bios (13FD) I listed in your first post on your site?
I have just bought an Asus P8Z77-v-Pro-Thunderbolt. I have downloaded the file P8ZZ77VPTB.cap, I have copied to a flash drive formatted fat32 and copied the file to the root. I have then placed the fash drive in the marked USB port on the rear of the board. According to the directions you then have to press a solenoid switch on the motherboard near to the hdled etc connector. Press it for 3 seconds it says, the led flasshes for a couple of secs then stops flashing and stays on. But the BIOS does not update...
The only saving grace is that I have downloaded the latest Asus bios P8z&&-V-Pro- Thunderbolt - Asus- 1504.cap, with the same result. Do these roms have to be renamed. Sorry if I am being very dumb
Can I make a request for the socket 1156 Asus V7-P7H55E ? It is a barebone and has a very crappy Bios. The bios is here: http://www.asus.com/Barebone_PC/V_Series_2530L/V7P7H55E/#download Any help is greatly appreciated!
(by the way, adding this comment did not work on Chrome on OS X ?)
Hi there, I've downloaded and used the P8P67 PRO Rev 3.1, but since then the MAC Address of my gygabit has canged in 88:88:88:88:89:88 and I cannot find a way to set it back, in windows I can use the tool inside the drivers to set it back but it is just a software fix, in OSX I'm not able to, is there any way to set the MAC Address back as it was? Thanks Tony
nice fix. i have later roms for that board. latest being 3207 currently, but theres a risk of audio not working with that rom. if you want to try it, can send it to you.
Hi thanks for the info on the bios but after finish my installation I found out the I cannot work my DVB-S as I need, so I may leave the OSX and stick with Windows. thanks anyways for your work.

Hi There. Firstly, thanks so much for providing the support needed for ASUS boards to run hackintosh. Really appreciate the time you've put into this :0)
I've recently purchased a P8Z77-V PRO mobo (http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77V_PRO/#download) and am trying to dual boot it with mountain lion & win7. I'm trying to use unibeast to do this as I have a macbook.
When I got the board I didn't know about the speedstep issues and so upgraded the bios to 1504 (latest). I tried to install your modded 1206 on top of this but it would progress to about 50% then the last part would speed up significantly then ask me to reboot. After rebooting I still find that 1504 is installed. So I did a bit of research and found that I may need to hack a lower version in, so I used AMIFLASH tools to do this using modded 1406, which appears to work but on reboot still at 1504 :( I did try to downgrade to official 1206 using AMIFLASH and this worked but then windows won't boot anymore and is not repairable so I put 1504 back on.
Not sure why modded 1406 won't take on the bios. Any ideas?
Thank you so much for your help Can you maby tell me what settings i need to use in multibeast do you know this? So that i have a good stable OSX running. i tryed so many things but get lost and i am a music producer so i need a stable osx. (My imac i too old for logic 9 :)
oh and i do have a legal version os OSX Mountain Lion! Bought in the appstore i know that most of you guys won't help if you have an illegal OSX.

ReplyDeleteI have a small problem with my P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen 3 board,
I've flashed my BIOS to the latest ver 3202 from late Feb 2012.

Will you be releasing an updated BIOS?

to use the roms for the z77 boards, you need to use the usb flashback feature.
the LX and LK do not come with that feature.
ezflash (in the advanced section of the bios) will not flash it, nor will bupdater dos utility.
there are a couple possible (but not tested) ways you could go from here.
one is to try flashrom in linux to flash the modified rom.
the other way is to buy a bios chip (easily replaceable) from this seller on ebay http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/zeanon/?_trksid=p4340.l2559
if you message him with a link to the modified bios, he will program it onto the chip for you.
as no security checks will take place (the reason why the bios fails to flash when using anything other than flashback) its likely that the modded bios will work.
there are issues with this way, such as cost and inability to upgrade the bios, but it is most likely to work for you.
hope that helps
Thank you. I will look into those methods. I know my way around in linux, so I'll probably try the flashrom method. And again, this is great work! Much appreciated.
Deleteno problem.
Deletewhichever method you go, could you give an update when you are done? if it works, it could help other LX/LK users.
flashrom method can be risky, but i suppose if your bios dies, you have to try the chip method ;-)
good luck!
I just looked on flashrom's website to see that it doesn't yet support any ASUS 7 series MoBos. Oh well. Not sure if I will live with patched PowerManagement, go for the bios chip thing, or just get another MoBo. After all, I have been lusting after a thunderbolt board ... :)
DeleteHowever, I will be sure to give you an update if I do manage to get the flashed bios on the LX.
Asus P8Z68-V PRO 3402
ReplyDeleteAsus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 3402
Both have:
-Intel RAID ROM Updated 11.2.0.1527 (Use the 11.2.0.1006 RST Driver<
-Micron eSATA ROM Updated 1.07.28
-ASUS SLIC 2.1
-Flashed and tested and work flawlessly!
(Both PCs have 2 x 128 GB Crucial M4 in RAID 0)
Exhibit A: P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 with 11.5
Exhibit B:P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 with 11.2
Didn't take screenshot with 11.5 for the next board, but I remember sequential read being ~820 MBps
P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 with 11.2
Had to stop being lazy and learn how to do this... it wasn't so bad. Figured I should give back a little, for the much I have taken.
Enjoy :)
Samisnake,
is there a thread that may help me out or do you mind explaining how I might begin to perform the DSDT patch on that Chronos 7 bios (13FD) I listed in your first post on your site?
Note: Write back cache enabled for all tests of the SSDs in RAID 0.
ReplyDeleteHi Samisnake,
ReplyDeleteI have just bought an Asus P8Z77-v-Pro-Thunderbolt.

The bios is here:

(by the way, adding this comment did not work on Chrome on OS X ?)
these roms arent to do with 1156.

Thanks Tony
ReplyDeletehi matey, never mind, I've fixed the MAC address with EEUDPATE.EXE via DOS, look forward for your next bios for p8p67 pro rev 3.1

ReplyDeleteyour doesnt have the "flashback" feature according to the asus site. you cant flash a modded bios on a z77 board using the regular method of ezflash.

Hi There. Firstly, thanks so much for providing the support needed for ASUS boards to run hackintosh. Really appreciate the time you've put into this :0)
ReplyDeleteI've recently purchased a P8Z77-V PRO mobo (http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77V_PRO/#download) and am trying to dual boot it with mountain lion & win7.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Sunil
try using the usb flashback feature, and report back
